A Detox Regimen for the Mind and Body

Our daily activities can really weaken our immune system and drain our mind and body of vitality. Toxins enter our body through the use of beauty products, eating processed foods, pollution, germs, and many other ways. There’s also stress we face each day, whether it’s sitting gridlocked in traffic, work demands, family life, or even our own negative thoughts. It’s important to take time to detox and here are some options listed below:

Restorative Yoga and Meditation


Once upon a time I saw Gentleflow/Restorative on a yoga schedule and quickly scrolled down. Nope!  Boring!  Where’s the power flow at?

It’s interesting how my sentiments have changed over the past few months, and I’ve grown to love gentle flow yoga more than ever.  It’s nice to really break a sweat from time to time and enhance our strength and endurance, but there’s something very special about relaxing and really focusing on areas that need improvement.

Restorative yoga can help heal minor aches and pains without the need to over exert energy.  Our emotional health is also very important, and what better way to emotionally detox than to meditate?



Props are frequently used during restorative yoga class and can really help you unwind.  If you like to practice at home this is a great way to self-diagnose and really relax and recharge your battery. So get out the blankets, bolsters, blocks and straps!

Essential Oils


There are so many therapeutic benefits to attribute to essential oils.  They can be used as a massage oil to exfoliate toxins from the skin. Grapefruit oil helps stimulate and improve lymphatic flow. The lymphatic s system is responsible for riding our body of toxins and waste.

Turmeric Powder and Lemon Water


Turmeric is a plant of the ginger family which is native to India and South Asia.  In Ayurveda medicine, turmeric has many healing properties.  This mustard-colored powder boosts the liver’s ability to detoxify.  Lemons are antioxidants that are a good source of vitamin C, aids digestion, and help the body produce collagen for smooth and glowing skin.  Combine that with turmeric powder and you get an excellent tonic.

Apple Cider Vinegar


Apple cider vinegar has many benefits but is most commonly used to stimulate weight loss.  The taste is quite bitter and the smell is not the best aroma but it can improve digestion, relieve bloating, stabilize blood sugar, and reduce cholesterol.
